the constant state label launches in style with a record from ian blevins & phil moodys al gobi outfit, who had something of a breakthrough 2013 with releases for disco bloodbath, rothmans, culprit la and audio parallax. while the original mix of a cup of tea is dark and unsettled - beautifully balanced bass notes and piano cutting through heavy, storm-pregnant air, cottams accompanying remix is the distillation of a second wind. his tribal, twisted, acidic treatment of this 3am concrete bunker anthem never overwhelms the piano refrain, instead giving it a new life, like the ghost of a party suddenly bequeathed fresh purpose as tired legs find boundless energy.

london-based producer and rinse fm associate rupert taylor, aka xxxy, has announced his second release for the rinse label, featuring a pair of characteristically melody soaked, floor ready house tracks. it is the follow up to 2013s incendiary club hit *got me so*, and is the latest in a series of releases from taylor exploring ghostly house and garage for labels including infrasonics, ten thousand yen and orca.

the last few years have seen chicago footwork rise to international success, and traxmans debut album - *the mind of traxman* on planet mu - played no small part in that. it showcased cornelius fergusons brilliant ability to synthesise the beat digging of classic hip hop with the high-speed abstraction of footworks house-derived beat science. the selection of tracks on this second chapter show a slightly different take on traxman s abilities. instead of bringing in concepts from other genres, he simply creates a wider variety of footwork, made with a minimal, reduced palette. often just one or two samples are selected and diced into brain-blurring cubist puzzles that bear little relation to their original sources, or anything else for that matter.

as ljudverket is a heavily art-influenced label, the second release was made as a part of an sound installation for an exhibition in helsinki. rasmus hedlund & tuomo väänänens 2x12 inch album consists of 80 locked groove loops, 20 on each side. the installation itself holds 4 vinyl players, where every side of the records are represented as a sound source, from where the participators could themselves choose a random loop and thus create their own soundscapes. this is one for the collectors, and no more than 200 copies are being produced.
